Being located in Adelaide’s entertainment precinct means noise complaints are practically inevitable for the Hotel Grand Chancellor. Noise from nearby pubs caused discomfort to patrons which showed up in online reviews of this international hotel chain.
Fits Existing Windows
Magnetite Adelaide was called to install a demonstration window to prove the level of noise reduction that would be achieved. Pleased with the result in a pilot room, Magnetite Adelaide was commissioned to retrofit 45 of the most noise prone windows.
Being a hotel, the biggest challenge was gaining access to rooms. However, with the assistance of the hotel management and staff, all necessary tools and components were able to be stored within the hotel complex. This way, Magnetite Adelaide’s installer team could work on any available room at any time. This allowed a smooth and efficient progress of works, which enabled the project to be completed in timely manner and be cost effective.
The Magnetite system was installed onto 34 fixed and awning window combinations as well as 11 very large bay windows. The secondary system was positioned to allow the maximum possible air gap. This, combined with 10mm glazing provided the best possible acoustic result.
All panels were cut to fit in line with existing frames so that they blend in with the existing windows. Moreover, Magnetite’s slimline frames were colour-matched to maintain the aesthetic of the existing aluminium windows. Last but not least, being a clear optical grade acrylic, Magnetite ensured the fantastic views out to the city landscape were not affected.
Dollars and Sense
Magnetite was chosen in part as a result of a recommendation from another installation done years earlier for another hotel nearby. Being satisfied with the outcome, the management provided a reference to Magnetite Adelaide as a means for securing new commercial customers by showing their confidence in the system and its performance as well as the company and its operations.
By virtue of previous success in resolving noise issues for another nearby hotel, Magnetite was recommended to the management of the Hotel Grand Chancellor. The installation of Magnetite’s retrofit double glazing has made a noticeable difference to the hotel’s patrons. Jarrad Crettenden, Room Division Manager, said “We couldn’t be more delighted with the result. The service was second to none and they happily arranged the installation to suit the demands of our hotel. The end result is a product that looks discreet and non-intrusive which has significantly reduced external noise resulting in better guest satisfaction. We would have no hesitation in recommending
Magnetite to others.”
