On average, 850 flights either arrive or depart Sydney Airport each day, making it the busiest airport in Australia. Magnetite was involved in recent upgrade for Sydney Airport Services Department, retrofitting its existing aluminium windows.

The challenge
Sydney Airport Corporation Limited (SACL) called for a redesign in their Sydney Airport Services Department. The office is located in the busy Sydney International Airport. Intermain, managed the project fit out, working the leading interior architects Design Inc. The key task was to reduce noise and heat through their west-facing windows, improving comfort level for occupants. Being occupied by full time staff, minimising disruption in offices was a key concern.

The solution
Magnetite retrofitted Soundtite secondary aluminium system to 20 windows. Using 6.38mm thick laminated glass and a maximum air cavity, Soundtite created a buffer which reduces noise through the window.

Dollar and Sense
Magnetite's retrofit double glazing solution allowed the fit-out project to achieved desired comfort level without any structural changes to existing windows. The Soundtite frame colour was matched to existing window to ensure a minimal visual impact.
